Phillip Island Penguin Parade Tours Reviews

What travellers say after the evening, in their own words, tour by tour. Ratings and review counts below are each operator’s own figures, shown as they appear on that tour’s booking page.

What travellers consistently say

Read enough of these and the same four things come back. The birds are far smaller than people expect. The cold is worse than the forecast suggests, in every month. The general stands sit further back than the photographs imply, and the travellers who upgraded to Penguins Plus say so unprompted. And numbers vary: a night with hundreds of birds and a night with a dozen are both normal, because these are wild animals rather than a performance.

The criticism is worth as much as the praise, so it stays. Two reviewers here counted ten penguins and said so. One sat through rain for the whole crossing. One would rather have hired a car. Those evenings happen, and they are the reason the arrival-time page and the viewing-tier comparison exist.

Small groups, private cars and the island itself

Minibuses capped in the teens, private vehicles, and the one tour that never leaves Phillip Island.

The steam railway days, and the ticket on its own

The days that pair the island with Puffing Billy in the Dandenongs, and the reserve's own general viewing ticket.

These are the operators’ own figures, captured on 12 September 2026 from each tour’s booking page. They move as travellers keep reviewing, and the last column is the one that explains most of the price differences on the page.
